Russian billionaire Rybakov says stuck in Kazakhstan with no Web

MOSCOW, Jan 11 (PRIME) -- Russian billionaire Igor Rybakov, a co-owner of roofing materials maker TechnoNICOL is stranded in Kazakhstan with almost no telephone connection or Internet, he told PRIME on Tuesday.

“I’m trying to leave Kazakhstan, but I have failed to do so so far. I think I’ll get away from Almaty to a safe place and take a plane from there,” Rybakov said.

“Today the Internet was provided for one hour – for the first time in three days. Some people managed to download something, but usually there is no Internet.”

The businessman said he came to Kazakhstan, which declared a state of emergency till January 19 after massive riots, on January 3 for vacation and planned to leave the country on Monday.

Russia’s Digital Development Ministry said earlier that mobile operators MTS, MegaFon, VimpelCom, and T2 RTK Holding will provide free connection for the Russians in Kazakhstan on Wednesday–January 19.
